Wire-Like Performance of New High-Speed Wireless Network Expected to Satisfy Soldevanahalli Campus’ Networking Needs for Years to Come
SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aruba Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: ARUN), a global leader in distributed enterprise network solutions, today announced that Acharya Institutes has deployed its high-speed 802.11n networks across its 120 acre North Bangalore Soldevanahalli campus, including the Acharya Institute of Technology (AIT). Established in 1990, and today one of India’s top fifty engineering colleges, the Soldevanahalli campus has over 5,600 students and more than 670 faculty and staff. The new 802.11n system upgrades an Aruba 802.11abg network in use for the past three years, and replaces legacy HP ProCurve and Apple Wi-Fi access points.
“Laptop usage increased three fold over the past three years, and the demand for pervasive network access across the campus by increasingly mobile users was growing daily,” said Dr. Ramesh Babu, AIT’s Head of the Systems and Computer Science Department. “Our site had different Wi-Fi networks in the academic buildings, library, and pre-university facilities. The network refresh presented an opportune time to both consolidate everything into a single unified network while moving to a high-speed 802.11n network that would meet our needs into the future.”
Universities throughout India are using equipment refresh cycles to assess how their networks are being utilized, and are adopting 802.11n as students and faculty move to Wi-Fi as their primary form of network access.
