Norte Abierto

Norte Abierto project is being developed under a 50/50 joint venture with Barrick Gold Corporation. The two gold-copper deposits, acquired in 2017 and formerly named Cerro Casale and Caspiche, are 12 kilometres apart in the Atacama region of northern Chile.

We plan to use the same innovative model set by NuevaUnión, where two partners are combining two large projects into a single asset. This approach:

• reduces capital and operating costs
• reduces our industrial and environmental footprint
• increases financial returns.

Key project activities in 2018 include:

An updated geological model for Cerro Casale, Caspiche and Luciano is expected by September 2018 including core relogging at Cerro Casale and Caspiche deposits and a drill program to increase geological confidence

Commence pre-feasibility study which will include trade-off and engineering studies on power, water, mining methods and metallurgy

Commence stakeholder engagement including environmental baseline monitoring

Goldcorp has included non-GAAP performance measures on a attributable basis (Goldcorp share) on this page. Attributable performance measures included Goldcorp’s mining operations and projects and Goldcorp’s shares from Cerro Casale & Caspiche.
