Aruba Networks Named Top Provider for Wireless LAN Among Market Leaders in Nemertes Research ‘2010 Pilothouse Awards’

09/27/2010

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aruba Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ:ARUN) today announced that users of WLAN solutions have named Aruba the leading WLAN vendor among market leaders in the Nemertes Research ‘Wireless LAN 2010 Pilothouse Awards.’ In gathering the data that led to the award, Nemertes asked IT professionals who have deployed products to provide ratings of the technology, value, and customer service offered by WLAN vendors.

What makes this Nemertes project unique is the fact that results are 100 percent based on the views and experiences of actual WLAN users. Nemertes’ staff determined the methodology, conducted the research and analyzed the findings, but had no influence over how any given vendor performs. The opinions rested with those who have selected, designed and deployed the technology. Moreover, this research is wholly independent and not sponsored by vendors. Nemertes asked IT professionals to rate WLAN providers in three areas: value, customer service and technology.

Within the Market Leader category, Aruba was highest-rated, with an overall score of 4.03. Among the Market Leaders, Cisco and Aruba were virtually neck-and-neck, with Aruba edging out Cisco primarily in the area of customer service.

Nemertes aimed to receive responses from 1,000 individuals, providing the survey results with a 95 percent confidence level and three percent margin of error. In fact, the firm received ratings from 3,071 individuals, with 2,004 meeting Nemertes’ standards and considered “valid.” The survey tool automatically exited individuals from vendors and carriers in the IT space.

The following is excerpted from the report itself:

“Overall, IT professionals who deployed Aruba were enthusiastic about their selection, particularly the management capabilities…. agrees the director at a midsize educational institution, who scored Aruba 4s across the board: “The biggest part of (the Aruba solution is) the management capability. We have more than 670 access points we manage. We have a good management system through Aruba to manage outdoor space; classroom space, to make sure it's optimized.””

“We are incredibly honored to have been named Top Provider in the Nemertes Pilot House Awards, and are both wowed and humbled to have had the feedback from actual users of WLAN solutions elevate us to this position,” said Greg Murphy, vice president of marketing for Aruba.
