Global Manufacturer Uses Aruba Instant 802.11ac APs and Aruba Central Cloud Management to Immediately Improve Mobility, Collaboration and Productivity for Employees
Aruba Networks, Inc. (NASDAQ: ARUN) today announced that SVP Worldwide,
a global leader in the design, manufacture and distribution of
award-winning sewing machines and accessories, has replaced its Cisco
WLAN infrastructure with Aruba’s Cloud
Wi-Fi solution including the Aruba Instant 802.11ac APs (access
points) and Aruba Central cloud-based management system to rapidly
enable mobile collaboration across its distributed enterprise locations.
With more than 200 corporate-issued devices, as well as a
Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) policy in place to accommodate the needs of #GenMobile
workers who want access from home and other non-traditional office
locations, SVP Worldwide needed a solution that could support the
increasing number and new types of devices on their network.
The company evaluated products from a number of vendors including Cisco
– both its controller-based and Meraki cloud solutions – before
selecting Aruba’s Cloud Wi-Fi solution. According to Aaron Paxson,
Global Network Manager for SVP Worldwide, central management, ease of
use and the ability to deploy quickly to a number of remote locations
were all critical factors in their decision to deploy Aruba.
“It boiled down to time and resources – all of which result in cost
savings,” said Paxson. “How fast could I deploy an AP to a remote
location without technicians? That narrowed my decision to cloud
management and the Aruba and Meraki solutions. The Aruba Instant APs
were much easier to configure and the user interface was more intuitive.
At the end of the day, the people who are troubleshooting these APs are
not engineers – they’re helpdesk technicians – so it’s crucial that they
be able to identify and resolve problems quickly and easily.”
With Aruba Central, Paxson noted that SVP Worldwide has been able to
resolve issues much faster than before, resulting in a wireless network
that operates reliably and end users who are more productive. “Our
biggest problem prior to installing Aruba Central was that a user would
report a problem with the wireless, but we wouldn’t be able to identify
the location or source of the problem. Now, with just a couple of
clicks, we can identify not only the access point the user is attached
to but what kind of traffic and errors he or she experienced on their
device.”
With more than 500 Wi-Fi CERTIFIED™ 802.11ac devices on the market
today, Paxson said that having an 802.11ac-based solution was important
to SVP Worldwide’s choice of infrastructure. “We could have gone with
802.11n, but we didn’t want to limit ourselves or have to go back and
make another purchase twelve months later,” he noted. The fact that
Aruba offers a complete set of 802.11ac access points – including the
mature Instant 225 Series APs that the company chose – was another key
factor in their decision.
“Since its introduction, our Cloud Wi-Fi solution has found great
success with distributed enterprises like SVP Worldwide,” said Jeff
Dolce, Area Vice President for Aruba Networks. “The rapid deployment,
ease of configuration and use and cost savings that Aruba Central can
offer are critical to a successful wireless network roll-out for these
kinds of organizations.”
Based on the success of the initial deployment in their enterprise
office environments, SVP Worldwide will look to extend its Aruba
wireless infrastructure to a number of retail locations in North America
next year, followed by their European locations.
